Dedication to Don May
We had a very special time together last week when we celebrated Don May's legacy to the Fairbanks Rescue Mission. He was one of the original founders and kept the Mission going through many hard times. His connection to the Mission spanned over 40 years! Just imagine in that time, how many lives he touched with his kindness.
We dedicated the kitchen and dining halls to him on this past Tuesday in the presence of his wife and children. What a blessing to hear from them about his amazing life! It was a very fitting dedication as Don May never wanted anyone to go hungry after his frontier experiences when he first arrived in Alaska.
He is an example for all of us of a commitment to a ministry that lasted many decades. A lot of the blessings that we are seeing presently are ones that Don May and the other founders prayed for years ago.
His favorite Scripture verses were Matthew 25:35-40.
“For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’
The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.”
