A Second Chance

Mark felt ashamed when he dialed the Rescue Mission last winter.

People like him didn’t go there. But frost bite had blackened his toes and his heater was nearly out of fuel. The roof collapsed just as the cold hit and he was doing his best to keep his cabin warm… but losing the battle.

The winter before he’d lost his wife to cancer, and then his job, because of Covid.

Mark’s savings had all gone to hospital bills, but they were still piling up. Desperate, he cried out to God for an answer. The answer came in the warmth and safety of the Fairbanks Rescue Mission.

Now Mark had a place to heal up and staff to help him apply for resources that he could use to help get back on his feet. By spring, he was ready.

When summer came, Mark left the mission with fresh aspirations to hit the reset button on his life. It was time to repair his roof and return to work.

Thanks to donors like you, Mark had a chance to recover and have that second chance.
