Thanksgiving Blessings

“We gather together to ask the Lord’s blessing;

He chastens and hastens his will to make known;

The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing.

Sing praises to his name; he forgets not his own.”

( Prayer of Thanksgiving)

Every Thanksgiving, when I was growing up, we would gather for assembly at Denali Elementary School.

Our Principal, Mrs. Haggard, would then lead us all in the Prayer of Thanksgiving and the Doxology.

There was never any question about to Whom or why we were praising or asking for blessing. We were thankful. And in that moment of thankfulness, we were also blessed.

This Thanksgiving, give yourself a moment of reflection. A moment to say “Thank You” to the one who has given you all - the triumphs and the trials in your life.

For it is during those trials that we have that moment, that ability to grow closer to the One who gives life true meaning.

“Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Praise Him, all creatures here below. Praise Him above, ye heavenly host. Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. “ AMEN
