 In order for homeless and disadvantaged individuals to become self sufficient and independent, they need to have stability in their lives. This includes housing, freedom from addiction, adequate care for mental illness, a consistent source of income, and a well planned reintegration program into the community. It is our approach to utilize the agencies in the community to provide services for those that come to us in need. We like to say we have a "Native Blanket Toss'' approach to services. The more capable people we surround our residents with, the higher we can launch them. Partnering with other community agencies allows us to focus and to make the best possible use of our resources. Our residents are the ultimate benefactors as they receive meaningful services as well as knowledge of the community service support system.

The 30-60-90 Program is a three-phase transitional program designed to celebrate small successes on the journey to ending chronic homelessness in the lives of our residents.

SSVF PROGRAM

SUPPORTIVE SERVICES FOR VETERAN FAMILIES (SSVF) works with low-income homeless Veterans and the at-risk-of-homelessness Veteran population to secure housing and link veterans to a variety of supportive services available in the community and outlying areas. SSVF case managers will help veterans address and provide assistance in the following areas:

  • Obtaining VA Benefits

  • Child Care Services

  • Transportation Services

  • Rental Assistance, Security Deposits or Utilities Assistance

 

GPD PROGRAM

GRANT PER DIEM (GPD) is innovative in its approach to the care and rehabilitation of homeless veterans because of its focus on sustained employment as the means to end homelessness. The program utilizes a case management approach which directly assists homeless veterans, as well as provides critical linkages to a variety of supportive services available in the Fairbanks and outlying communities. It focuses on meaningful job placements to help with job retention and includes follow up efforts to ensure that those who find employment and housing have the resources they need to avoid returning to homelessness.

 

ENTERPRISE UNIT

The Enterprise Unit works as a jobs training program for residents to learn about light construction, shop safety, forklift operation, landscaping, good employee practices and receive career counseling. Our goal is to empower and enable program participants to obtain sustained future employment while earning a small stipend.
