GARY "First I would like to praise God for me being here. Before I came here I was mentally exhausted, didn't believe in God anymore, alone, stranded, with no money and no place to go. "The Fairbanks Rescue Mission was there. I first came in as a client then after a month or so a staff member asked me if I wanted to join the program. "Shortly after I was diagnosed with skin cancer. The doctor said it was one of the worst cases he had seen. It was okay because the circumstances helped me find God again. If I died from skin cancer I would be going home to Him. If I became caner free that was great, too. Friends and staff members prayed for me every day to help me cope with my cancer and now, many months later, I am declared cancer free. "I volunteer here now and I really enjoy giving back what was given to me. Praise God!"
LAURA & DAUGHTER MAHKAYLA "Six years of living in and out of other Fairbanks agencies I used up all of my days and had no place to go. I was so scared. My main concern was that I couldn't have my 11-year old daughter with me. An advocate told me to try the Fairbanks Rescue Mission. "When I checked in as a client there was a welcoming feeling. I started in the program a month later and finally there's peace in my life. "Thanks to Bible studies I am learning more about myself and it is a lot of fun. I have earned the respect of my family. Coming to the Mission was the best choice I've made in my life. I feel like I am really giving back and that just feels great!"
